Egypt’s introduction to the industry came in 2009, thanks to some persistent encouragement from his brother, who had already joined Lewis and kept telling him, “You need to come over. There’s opportunity here.”
At the time, Egypt was already a General Foreman at another company and wasn’t looking to move.
But when his previous employer lost their contract, he decided to take the leap—and never looked back.
“Lewis is different,” Egypt says. “At other companies, you were just a number—replaceable in minutes. But here, they care. They teach you, support you, and want you to grow.”
And Egypt has grown. From starting as a groundperson driving standard trucks to leading crews and mentoring the next generation of leaders, he’s embraced every step along the way. He sees Lewis not just as a job, but as a platform for growth and leadership. “I tell my team, you can take my job one day. That’s the point. We have the programs and the support to make that possible.”
His leadership style is simple but powerful—recognize and appreciate the people doing the hard work. “A good thank you, a thumbs up, a handshake—it goes a long way,” he says. Whether it’s bringing the crew cold drinks or just stopping by to acknowledge a job well done, Egypt knows how to motivate.
When asked what he’d say to someone thinking about joining Lewis, his answer is direct:
