Climbing Higher: How Aaron Stanton Found His Future at Lewis

For Aaron Stanton, risk-taking isn’t just a strategy - it’s a way of life. Whether working as a cable man, braving the sea as a commercial fisherman, serving over a decade in the New Jersey Army National Guard, or responding to calls for help as a volunteer firefighter, Aaron thrives in demanding, high-stakes environments. That adventurous spirit eventually drew him to the tree-trimming industry, where he found work that checked all the boxes: challenging, community-oriented, and rewarding.

There’s always someone there to help if you can’t find an answer. Nobody’s going to leave you on your own and let you fail.

But at his previous company in the vegetation management industry, Aaron felt stuck. “The ladder was full,” he explained, with seniority blocking his path to a General Foreperson (GF) role. It was during a lunch break, scrolling through Facebook, that Aaron came across an opening at Lewis Services in the Atlantic City area. Though skeptical and thinking his chances would be slim, he applied anyway - and even encouraged friends to do the same. To his surprise, Aaron got the call, landed the interview, and soon found himself stepping into the GF role with Lewis.
Since joining Lewis, Aaron’s career has taken off. “It’s been exciting from the beginning,” he says. “The local leadership is absolutely awesome. There’s always someone there to help if you can’t find an answer. Nobody’s going to leave you on your own and let you fail.”
For Aaron, the support and culture at Lewis are night and day compared to his previous experience. “Our safety is second to none. Leadership stands behind what they say. Our ‘9 to Know’ safety standards are written in blood and are non-negotiables,” he says, emphasizing the company’s unwavering commitment to its team.
As an employee-owner in Lewis’ employee stock ownership program (ESOP), Aaron also feels a stronger connection to the company’s fortunes. “Being in an ESOP company means I have a bright future for my retirement—and I contribute directly to our success.”
Beyond the career benefits, Aaron’s story is one of balance. A husband, father of four, and caretaker of three dogs and three cats, he appreciates how Lewis supports his life both on and off the job. He continues to serve his community as a volunteer firefighter and loves the opportunity to lead and serve his team at Lewis.
When asked what he would say to others considering Lewis, Aaron doesn’t hesitate: “It’s a great company, and if they get a chance to make the Lewis Choice, they should take it.” And for those on the fence? He puts it simply: “If you notice the grass you’re standing on is getting a little dry, I promise you it’s greener at Lewis.” Check out other #LewisChoice videos here and subscribe to our #LewisChoice channel!
