Lewis Tree Service Ranks Sixth on NAFA’s List of Top 100 Commercial Fleets

ROCHESTER, NEW YORK — April 25, 2023 — Lewis Tree Service, one of the leading providers of utility vegetation management services in the United States, has been recognized by NAFA Fleet Management Association (NAFA) as a Top 100 Commercial Fleet for 2023. Lewis placed sixth among top performing commercial fleets in the Americas.

NAFA’s 100 Best program identifies and encourages performance improvement and innovation within the fleet industry. The goal of the 100 Best contest is to foster pride in the industry, build recognition within the national fleet community, increase levels of productivity and operational effectiveness, and encourage more individuals to consider fleet operations as a career choice.

“Announcing the 100 Best Fleets is always an exciting time for the NAFA community,” said Mike Camnetar, CAFM, NAFA Board President in a statement issued April 17th for its annual convention. “The fleet industry is experiencing a lot of change and innovation right now, and we are proud of how these fleets are leading and representing our industry. We look forward to seeing all they accomplish in 2023.”

“NAFA is one of the premiere associations for the fleet industry,” said Chad Fay, Vice President of Fleet Operations & Procurement for Lewis. “To be recognized as one of the best fleets in the Americas is a great honor. Fleet operations isn’t just about trucks and equipment, it’s about the people who operate, manage, and maintain our fleet. Our success is a direct result of their outstanding work.”

Lewis deploys a robust fleet of more than 6,500 assets every day, primarily bucket utility trucks, backyard lifts, light-duty pickup trucks, chippers, and off-road equipment. The Lewis fleet has traveled close to 30 million miles in the past year.

Fay attributes much of Lewis’ success to the Fleet Stewardship Award program that the company launched last year. Lewis’ Fleet Stewardship Award is designed to recognize employees and managers who go above and beyond and take exceptional pride in the fleet. The award reinforces the importance of taking care of and extending the life of equipment.

“Making the top 10 on NAFA’s prestigious list is a byproduct of the energy and focus we place on fleet management internally,” explained Fay. “At Lewis, one of our operating principles is to ‘challenge the status quo’ which means we're always looking for ways to improve, innovate, and raise the bar. It’s incredibly rewarding to see these efforts translate into such positive industry recognition.”
