“It happened so quickly.” We’ve heard this time and time again. In highly variable work, surprise is inescapable. By strengthening our situational awareness muscles, over time we may be more able to look for hidden traps, rely on a catalog of experiences, and predict/prepare for an unforeseen event.
In this session, we discuss how Lewis is studying/applying both the science and practices of individual and team situational awareness. We introduce our press pause tool for noticing, understanding, and forecasting what could happen next. And we’ll share our latest thinking on active spotting, confirmation bias, team communication, and more.
